Week 3
I narrowed down the searching with the Amazon API to find just authors, instead including other things like titles and descriptions. I have also looked into handling the XML search results, the Amazon API returns, with PHP. I am not quite done with this step, but am getting close.

Week 2
This week I obtained an access key ID from Amazon.com. This is a unique key which allows my site to access the Amazon API. I also found sample code that uses the Amazon API with PHP. This is helpful because I plan on using PHP for my site. It is easier to see the integration between the two with this example. I took the sample code and trimmed it down to only include some of the features I am going to use in my site, removing the other frivilous extras.

Week 1
This website will enable users to create accounts and keep track of their favorite author's publications. The site will interface with the Amazon.com API to find when authors are coming out with new books. Users may be notified through e-mail of new listings. This will save the users from having to go through individual author sites or multiple searches in order to find when the latest book is being published.
